| When?: Tuesday, October 30th., 2007 at 7 pm for approximately 2 hours. Where?: Amherst High School, Amherst, NS. Who?: A mixed audience will be invited and all amateurs are encouraged to attend. Why?: To become more fully informed about the possible outcomes of a major disaster such as a hurricane hitting Cumberland County and how you could help out. | Rough Presentation Outline: Introductions - who we are/what we do (EC/CHC/ASPC=Atlantic Storm Prediction Centre) why we're there that night: to discuss worst case scenario Weather Hazards/threats: Atlantic Canada - what/why? winters storms/tropical storms/ET hazards resources (websites etc) Specific Hazards to Cumberland County - what/why? Typical scenario -beginning of a storm scenario set-up orientation training on climatology, monitoring weather resources, etc... introduce a storm... Training- on storm development/transition/uncertainties etc discuss roles of various players in EC weather service discuss various bulletins (forecasts/warnings) and other resources Escalate storm into Fundy and area - training on storm surge/impacts/warnings etc. Track storm across to PEI - back end of storm - impacts/warnings/resources etc. Questions- Wrap-up- |
