| Hi Jim. Please post this e-mail on our Web Page if you see fit. I think this could be looked at as a kind of censorship and I don’t like it. Place it under EMO if you like. Thanks and 73, Jim From: Jim Hannon [mailto:jhannon@cumberlandcounty.ns.ca] Sent: January-22-09 10:07 AM To: 'Brad Ross'; 'Jim Langille' Cc: 'Mike'; 'Bob Tuttle'; 'Percy Veinotte'; 'Anderson, Lorne (CCG)'; 'Ron Bickle'; 've1ta@rac.ca' Subject: RE: re wake up net Good Day to all. I read with interest and concern the comments attached. As a supporter of several repeaters and a active Amateur Radio Operator involved with emergency communications in the Maritimes, I see no harm in the very lively nets being conducted on VHF and HF. It is because of these nets that technical problems are being identified and linking procedures are constantly being exercised. When I have monitored the repeaters not active with Nets, I have found them to be a very lonely place to be. I do agree that hearing about someone’s sore bunion may not be of interest to all , but this is a very small price to pay for the overall enjoyment received by hundreds of Amateurs and Short Wave Listeners. As to wearing out the equipment. If anybody can prove to me that repeaters are worn out from overuse related to Nets in Nova Scotia, I will replace them myself. I strongly urge all volunteer Net Controllers to keep up the good work and hopefully keep blood moving in this fantastic hobby of ours. Thanks for reading this. 73, Jim VE1- AFH |
