| WARC April Meeting - 2008 |
| The WARC April 2008 meeting was held on the 2nd. at the E.D. Fullerton Building in Amherst with about 22 people in attendance starting at 7:04 pm. Five people were guests: Gerry MacMillan (VA1BK), Jamie Hillier of the Salvation Army, Ross Robinson from the Parrsboro Community Radio station (99.1 FM), Bob Tuttle who was here tonight to write the amateur exam and our guest speaker, Geoff DeGannes, Project Coordinator for the Tantramar Community Radio Society (107.9 FM). Congratulations to Bob Tuttle who wrote and passed his exam this evening - Welcome to the club, Bob! It was noted that Jim Hannon had been in attendance earlier but was quite ill and left for home. All present were sorry to hear about this and hope that he gets well soon. Jim left some EMO hats with Bob Perry (VE1EDP) and Bob passed these out to members at the end of the evening. After the meeting, we had a lunch break and then Geoff DeGannes, Project Coordinator for the Tantramar Community Radio Society gave a presentation on the progress being made to establish this radio station in the Amherst area. Geoff passed out a pamphlet about the project as well as a map showing the footprint of their proposed signal and answered questions. For further information on the society, please visit their website at: www.tantramarfm.ca After Geoff's presentation, the items for the ham gear auction were brought in to the meeting room and President Jim Langille (VE1JBL) conducted the auction which raises money for the club. Many of us came away with 'unique treasurers' while our treasurer, Mike Embree (VE1MY) walked away with a fist full of cash! ~ VE1CHI, Jim C, WebGuy |
