WARC ANNUAL CHRISTMAS MEETING & PARTY Wednesday, December 6th, 2006
|
The WARC December
Meeting and Christmas Pot Luck
Party was held at the E.D.
Fullerton Building, Amherst, NS
in the meeting room downstairs.
We had 37 club members and
their guests attending this year
with a great variety of hot and
cold main dishes as well as a
good selection of desserts.
Peter, VE1CCL, had special
ordered two ice cream dessert
cakes on behalf of the club and
a secret birthday cake was
brought in also.
Several members and guests
helped to bring in chairs,
arrange tables in the hallway
outside of the meeting room and
to place out the food and
dessert items.
After an oh so brief meeting (in the hallway I believe, according to
President Milner) all business was put forward until the January 2007
meeting and the call to eat was given by him.
A long line of hungry folks slowly made its way by the tables with each
person returning to the meeting room with heaping plates and beaming smiles.

After dinner and desserts were consumed, the surprise cake made its way into the room carried by Jim,
VE1CHI and announced by Gerry, VE1KW.
Gerry got the crowd to sing "Happy Birthday" to Bill Wheaton, VE1CFK, as today was Bill's birthday.
Bill thanked the crowd in a short speech after the singing and then cut the cake and handed out pieces. The
cake had been arranged by his wife Irene, VE1CF, and their son, Billy.
After the birthday cake was
consumed, Mr. and Mrs. Claus
(the Hudsons) presented
everyone with a gift from the
'Hudson Workshop' festively
wrapped in their trademark
'brown bag' and brought to us by
their new blue and white plastic
sleigh sans reindeer!
Santa had previously
distributed numbers to all guests
and he called these out to
determine the recipients. Many
were surprised by but pleased
with their gifts from Santa.
Thank You Santa!

After more 'rag chewing', folks started to leave for home and the cleanup began with many hands helping
to stack chairs and put away tables and deal with the leftovers. Since Peter's second ice cream cake was
untouched it was decided to let it rest in Peter's freezer until the January meeting.
All in all, the evening consisted of an extremely short business meeting and a very long social meeting with
good food and companionship. I can safely say that everyone had an enjoyable time.
Merry Christmas 2006 to One and All from the WARC !
