WARC September AGM & General Meeting 2006
    The AGM of the WARC was held on Wednesday,
September 6th., 2006 at the E.D. Fullerton Building in
Amherst with about 23 in attendance.

    After the usual business of the AGM, Jim Milner, our
President, called for the nominating committee to present the
proposed slate of officers. Terry, VE9TER, as chairman,
reported that all the present executive members agreed to
run again for the 2006-2007 year. After calling for
nominations from the floor for each position and hearing
none, Terry declared the present executive the 'new'
executive.

    The executive for the 2006-2007 year:

President, Ron Bickle, VE1BIC, Secretary, Jim Hannon,
VE1AFH, Treasurer and Peter Hebb, VE1CCL, Newsletter

    Scott Hawkes, VE1SLH,  the Communication Equipment
Trainer for Transportation & Public Works, NS was introduced
as our guest speaker for the evening with his presentation to
follow our regular meeting. Dues were fixed at $15.00 per year,
unchanged from the previous year as a result of the
recommendation of our treasurer. The meeting was adjourned  
and the regular September meeting of the WARC convened.
    After the various committee
reports, announcements and votes
on motions, the meeting adjourned.

     A break for lunch and coffee followed and then Scott Hawkes
gave an excellent talk and slide presentation on the "Trunked Mobile
Radio System Network" and his role as a 'Communication Equipment
Trainer' as well as the valuable support role of his "Mobile
Communications Support Vehicle" known as 'MCS01', one of two such
vehicles owned by the Province of Nova Scotia.

    During his presentation, Scott demonstrated the TMR system by
linking up with Al Cyples, VE1CYP, of Bridgewater using his portable
handheld TMR radio via the 'MSC01' which was parked outside.

    After the meeting adjourned,
club members went outside to
view 'MCS01' and see a
demonstration of its capabilities
and to see the many radios and
other equipment on board.
