WARC Life member Bill Wheaton, VE1CFK celebrated his 90th birthday with family and friends in Parrsboro on Sunday afternoon, the 5th of December, 2010 at his home on Queen Street. Bill will be ninety years young on his actual birthday - the 6th of December. Lots of sandwiches and two cakes no less were enjoyed by all in attendance. No one went away hungry and everyone brought best wishes to Bill on this special occasion. Congratulations Bill and Happy Birthday from the WARC membership! (Photos by VE1CHI, Jim)

Jim VE1CHI, visited Ron VE1BIC, at Ron's QTH in Amherst on the morning of Saturday, January 22nd for the purpose of getting Ron set up as the backup webmaster for the WARC website. Program applications were installed by Ron on his computer as well as the current website folders and files. Ron accessed each application and created a 'test file' so that he was familiar with what Jim does during site updates, linking and page creation. The test page was FTPed to the server in Amherst at the E.D. Fullerton Building and later deleted. |

Additionally, Ron now has the ability to update the backup WARC website at Byethost. Jim left Ron with a CD of all installation files and password information just in case they are needed in the future. At the February 2nd WARC meeting, Jim will be asking the membership to approve the move of the website to the HFRadio.net hosting service which already hosts such websites as the Ontario Swapshop, ONTARS, the Trans Provincial Net, Toronto EOC and the Canadian Ladies Amateur Radio Association (CLARA). This is a free service. ~73 de VE1CHI, Jim C

Members... I just received this note and photo from club member VE1JSG, Jon Gordon on the occasion of his 45th birthday! Happy Birthday Jon! Some radios "take the cake" but this one "IS the cake"! Here is Jon's note: "I wanted to send a picture of the birthday cake Susie made for me. Taylor also helped. She made it in the shape of my Radio Shack VHF Radio with fondant icing. It took a long time to make and thought maybe you would post it on the Westcumb Website. It also tasted great as well."

Hi Jim -- came across these pics today...they may already be in the archives... The group shot was taken following an Annual Meeting at the Air Force Wing on Havelock St. - probably mid-90's. We met at the old ARHS, then the Deaf School before we went to the Wing. Might be fun to post it on the webpage and see if anyone can ID the folks in the pic. The other shot is of the VE1SPR repeater when it was moved from the Bragg/Eastlink tower to Lynn Mtn at the sugar camp...before we got space on the MT&T tower. Looks like Jack McGee. We got kicked off the Bragg tower because of CH18 interference with CNN during the Gulf War which was from Aug 02, 1990 to Feb 28, 1991. Probably around 1996-97. My kids were just little.. 4 or 5. They were in another pic taken the same day. I was trying out some "new-fangled" C-41 process B&W film. It could be developed in color film machines. The group shot was regular B&W Tri-X that I developed in my own darkroom. 73, Ron
