Photos
This area will be used for the odd and interesting photographs regarding radio, radio equipment, weather and weather
related phenomena and astronomy submitted to me by club members or any other amateur radio operator.  I will rely upon
you, the amateur radio operator, to email me any photos (preferably 640x480) you think should be added. The idea for
this page was submitted by Rick, VE9RWS.

Thanks and 73, Jim C. (VE1CHI@RAC.CA)
The Lunar Eclipse of Saturday, March 3rd, 2007 sparked an interest in all of us
heaven-gazers. Below are photos taken by various contributors. For detailed information
about the night sky above your "lat & long", see this website:
www.heavens-above.com
The above three photos were taken by Gerry Harris, VE1AAC. Here is Gerry's story: These pics were taken with a
Kodak 7.1 mpixel camera, through my spotting scope at 18X and the camera in normal distance view mode. I set the
scope on a sturdy tripod and held the camera lens against the eyepiece of the scope. No time delay used either. No's 9
and 15 (the end photos) were done that way. No.10 (centre photo) also used camera zoom. It was a poor eclipse here
(HRM - Jollimore), because by the time it got over the trees it was already total. As it continued higher in the sky it
got into some haze, making the separation of light and dark hard to distinguish. I'm not boasting Jim, just showing how
lucky I got on my first try.   73, Gerry  (Congrats once again, Gerry - excellent photos!  Thanks  ...VE1CHI, Jim C.)
The two photos left and right
were taken by my friend, Bob
Hamilton, in Waverley, NS, using
a Canon S3IS Digital camera.
Bob has a keen interest in
photography and teaches a course
in it from time to time.
This photo on the left was taken
by my wife, Nancy, who is the
photographer in the family. She
used a tripod and a Canon S2IS
Digital camera from our deck in
Two Islands (near Parrsboro),
NS.
This rare photo on the right is
one that I was able to capture
after the moon had totally set.
No one else was able to get this
photo!  :-)

Brad, VE1ZX, emailed me to say that Ron, VE1AIC, had some interest Eclipse Photos on his website at:

The following four photographs were submitted by Rick, VE9RWS. A person cannot help wondering how cold
it had to be to freeze over Niagara Falls! This was in 1911.
The space below is reserved for more club member radio and/or weather related
photos - please submit photos to Jim, VE1CHI at <ve1chi@rac.ca>
                              Tinkering Session in Brad's Basement

Brad, VE1ZX, sent me the following photos from the weekend of March 24th - 25th., 2007. Here Lorne, VE1BXK, Rick,
VE9RWS and Brad, VE1ZX, are tinkering in Brad's basement.

Lorne  and Rick  are seen doing real serious work on three VHF phoenix radios. These three phoenix radios are being
modified and interfaced to a tiny track three for APRS so watch out for all those beacons going through the air.

Something fishy here as this is a mackerel sky as seen at the QTH of
VE1BFB and VE1ZX in Leamington, NS near Springhill on the morning of
Sunday, the 23rd of January, 2011. Photos submitted by Brad Ross, VE1ZX
