| There was a lot happening in Parrsboro on Tuesday the 5th of September! There is a board game company moving part of its operations here and creating about 1500 new jobs. Parrsboro's population is just over 1200 so you can see that there will be a great effect on this small, quiet town! They will begin building the warehouse and factory buildings this fall for operation next October. They bought the old post office as their head office. The company CEO, Mr. Kerry Martins will have the top floor for his private residence. The company is Headz Gamez International, makers of the Griddly Headz Sports Board games. You can 'google' info on them. They currently sell these games world-wide. They also sponsor NASCAR and CASCAR racers. They had their official press announcement on Tuesday, September 5th. at the bandstand with all the media, politicans and dignitaries present as well as several NASCAR/CASCAR vehicles, their drivers, and the "Hanson Brothers" from the movie, "Slapshot". The main street was blocked off and they drove four racing cars down and back for the crowd and then parked them for viewing. Club members in attendance during the afternoon were: Abby, VE1BFB; Brad, VE1ZX; Lorne, VE1BXK; Rod, VE1ROD; Jim, VE1VIA; Bill, VE1CFK; Irene, VE1CF and Jim, VE1CHI and his wife, Nancy. TV media coverage was national that day with the local networks carrying the announcement. The company plans to establish here without any government financial assistance but expects some help with infrastructure. The celebrations continued on Wednesday.
