"The family of Leslie Day sadly advise friends of his passing in White Rock, BC on April 19,
2009. Before moving to British Columbia in 2004, Leslie and Jennie enjoyed 25 years of retired
life with their many friends in Pugwash and Amherst. Les is survived by Jennie, his loving wife of
65 years, son David of Calgary and daughter Jennifer of Vancouver. He is also survived by 5
grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. During his time in Nova Scotia, Leslie was active in
community service, serving many years on the executive of the Cumberland Seniors' Association
and a term as President of the Nova Scotia Senior's Association. Les was a great adventurer who
served proudly in the RAF during WWII. Les and Jennie emigrated to Canada in 1957, and have
enjoyed travel to all provinces. He will be missed by his family and many friends."

Louise Nolan - VE1ABI - SK
          
It is with sadness that I report to you the passing of Louise Nolan, VE1ABI, on Thursday, July 19th, 2007.

As many of you know, Louise was an active  member of the WARC and the wife of Lee Nolan, VE1BHS, who began the initial
push back in April of 1980 to start the WARC radio club. WARC members had a special place in their hearts for Louise.

She actively attended club brunches before moving and I regret to have only known her for a short period of time.

The body is resting at Furlong's Funeral Home Ltd, 70 Church Street, Amherst, NS. (667-8777). Visiting hours are 12
noon until 2 pm Tuesday the 24th of July, immediately followed by the service at Furlongs between 2 pm and 2:30 pm.
Burial will follow the service in the Amherst Cemetery.

Following the burial, a reception in memory of Louise will be held at Furlong's Funeral Home.

           Louise Beatrice Nolan

The death of Louise Beatrice Nolan of Hampton, NB and formerly of Maccan, NS, widow of Lee F. Nolan occurred July 19,
2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was born in Saint John, daughter of the late John and Ruby (Watters)
Halsall. Louise and her husband started the Amateur Ham Radio Club in Maccan. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge.
Louise enjoyed crocheting and was well known for her cooking.

She is survived by three daughters, Shaaron Thompson, Hampton, NB, Linda (Lyn) Nolan, Dartmouth, NS, Geri Nolan-
Hilfiker, Summerville, NS; six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, several nieces and
nephews.

Resting at Furlong - Jones Funeral Home, Amherst, NS, on Tuesday from noon … 2pm from where the funeral service will
take place at 2:00pm. Interment in Amherst Cemetery. Memorials to Alzheimer Society or Heart & Stroke Foundation
would be appreciated.

his brother, Fred Smith, age 75, of Southampton. Condolences go out to Earle's family members also.

The WARC extends sympathy to the family of Raymond Bristol Sr., 90, of Amherst, VE1TEE who is now a silent key. Ray
was a lifetime Ham Radio Operator, being a longtime member in good standing with our club. We were sorry to learn that
Ray passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, following a lengthy illness.

Bruce Smith - VE1ABC - SK
                                                       SMITH, Bruce Vincent - VE1ABC

73, of Fenwick, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009, in Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper
Nappan, with his family by his side. Born in Nappan, he was a son of the late Vincent and Georgia (Brown)
Smith. Bruce worked at the family business, Smith Esso Service Station in Fort Lawrence, Municipality of
Cumberland County and Robb Engineering, where he worked on the construction of the IWK Health Centre
in Halifax. He was a member of the RCAF Wing 105, Amherst, Westcumb Amateur Radio Club and Echo
Charlie Club 212 and for many years he was active with Boy Scout Alert Jamboree. Bruce enjoyed playing
darts, horseshoes, snowmobiling and ATV's and also tinkering and inventing. He is survived by his wife of
52 years, Gayle Mill; daughters, Debra (Paul) Ripley of Upper Nappan and April (Joe) Dale of Moncton,
N.B.; granddaughters, Tammy and Paula Ripley and Kristy, Katie and Kayla Dale; brother, Lloyd (Marge)
Smith of Amherst, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Bruce was predeceased by son,
Steven and brother, Fred. Cremation has taken place. His family will receive visitors in Campbell's Funeral
Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on
Friday at 2:30 p.m. from Campbell's Chapel with Rev. Bob Mack officiating. Interment will take place in
Fenwick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bruce's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke

1924 - 2010

WHEATON, IRENE A. – 86, of Parrsboro, Cumberland Co.
passed away Monday, September 6, 2010 at the Cumberland
Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan. Born at Hyde
Park, Mass., she was a daughter of the late George and
Madeline (Leblanc) Breau. She was a member of St. George’s
Anglican Church, Parrsboro, was a former A.Y.W.A. President
and served with the Alter Guild. She enjoyed golf, curling, travel
and most of all, her family. She was very active as a ham radio
operator for more than 20 years as VE1CFK and VE1CF. She is
survived by her husband, William; a son, Billy (Brenda),
Parrsboro; a brother, Jack (Ruth), Virginia; grandchildren, Ryan
Wheaton (Tanya St. Pierre), Dartmouth; Patrick Wheaton (Anaïs
Guimond), Halifax. She was predeceased by a daughter, Brenda
Joyce in infancy; sister, Doris; brothers, George and Ralph.
Funeral service 11 a.m. Friday [September 10, 2010] at St.
George’s Anglican Church, Parrsboro, Rev. Tory Byrne
officiating. Burial in St. George’s Anglican Cemetery, Parrsboro.

Lloyd V. Repetto
1929 – 2011



REPETTO, Lloyd V. - 81, of Parrsboro passed away Monday, January 10,
2011 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan. Born in
Halifax, he was a son of the late Stephen and Annie (Keddy) Repetto. Lloyd
began his working career with S.E. O’Regan in Parrsboro as an apprentice
mechanic. He later started the Crossroads Garage with his brother in law,
Danny McPhee where he worked for 27 years. Upon his retirement he was
caretaker of Paul and Steve O’Regan’s properties in the Parrsboro area. He
was a gifted woodworker and was a ham radio operator since he was a child
(VE1BD). Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived
by a son, Johnson (Wendy), Parrsboro; a granddaughter, Bethany; a
grandson, Cameron; nieces and nephews, Gloria Repetto, Laura Peters and
Mary Ormsey; Mary, Gloria and Linda McPhee; Jean, Marlene, Timothy
McPhee and Beverly Pugsley; David Thompson and Gladys Jean
MacPherson; Sheldon and Garfield McPhee; Clyde, Gerald and Scott
McPhee. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Jean McPhee in 2004;
a sister, Mona; a brother, Gerald. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on
Thursday January 13, 2011 at St. George’s Anglican Church, Parrsboro,
Rev. Tory Byrne officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of
Nova Scotia.

VE9ES, Ed on his 87th Birthday
                                                     Edward Stewart (Ed) Hart - VE9ES
                                              September 20th,1920 - January 13th, 2011

Sackville, N.B.- It is with sadness that the family of Edward S. Hart announce his passing at the Drew
Nursing Home on Thursday, January 13, 2011. Edward was 90 years of age.

Born in Sackville, N.B. on September 20, 1920, he was the son of the late Sarah Alice (Stewart) and Dr.
Edward Reuben Hart.

Ed attended Sackville High School and Mt.A Academy and University before joining RCAF as a Radar
Mechanic with whom he served overseas during WWII. He was released from the RCAF due to medical
conditions and returned home. He was a life-long member of Amateur Radio Canada International and a
“ham operator” (VE9ES) for many years and a life-member of the Sackville United Church where he
participated in the choir for many years. Ed was a life-member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #26,
Sackville and former member of the Boy Scouts of Canada. He was a prolific photographer and worked for
Foundation Maritimes on several buildings at Mt. A including the Gymnasium, Chapel, Fine Arts Building,
Jennings and the new Library. Ed also enjoyed music as well as oil and water color painting.

Ed will be sadly missed by his brother John Hart of B.C.; nephews, Richard Hart of B.C. and Graham Hart
of Ont.; nieces, Sharon Hart of Ont., Mary Ann (David) Kiley of N.S. and Margaret Rogers of N.B.; several
great-nieces and great-nephews and his special friend, Allan Sears of Sackville.

Besides his parents, Ed was pre-deceased by his three brothers, Donald, Cecil and Herbert Hart and their
families.

Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188).
Visitation will take place on Saturday, January 15, 2011 from 7-9 pm at the funeral home from where the
Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #26, Sackville, will hold a service at 7 pm. A memorial service will take
place at the funeral home on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at 2 pm with Rev. John Perkin officiating. Burial
will take place in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ed may be made to the Drew Nursing Home, Royal Canadian
Legion Branch #26, Sackville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary or to the charity of ones choice.
In Memory of Duane Sears - VE9DRS - SK

Duane R. Sears
1929-2011


Duane R. Sears, age 81, of Westcock, passed away at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital on Tuesday, May 17, 2011.

Born in Sackville, NB, he was a son of the late Coleman and Isabel (Hicks) Sears.

Duane was a 25 year veteran of the RCAF having retired in 1975, Foreman at Enterprise Foundry and lastly at Weslabs.
 He was a member of the Sackville Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion and a  former Warrant Officer with the 8th
Canadian Hussars and Squadron Sergeant Major.  He was a member of Main Street Baptist Church and a radio ham
with the Westcumb Amateur Radio Club with the callsign VE9DRS.

Sadly missed by 3 sons, Bruce (Linda), Amherst, Phillip (Jeanne d'Arc Chavarie), Westcock  and Mark (Kimberley) of
Miramichi; 14 grandchildren, James, Eric, Nicole, Christopher, Candice, Matthew, Michael, Brandon, Amity, Benjamin,
Patrick, Craig, Travis and Krista; two great grandsons, Jacob and Cohen; a sister, Gwen Crossman, Sackville; 2
brothers, Chum (Betty) Sears, Sackville and Carson Sears, Cambridge, ON; nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased
by his wife Barbara (Ward) in 2004 and a son Edward in 1978; and by  brothers Ron and Eyrol.

Duane's remains have been cremated under the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street,
Sackville (364-1300) from where visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Friday, May 20, 2011.  A memorial service will
be held from the funeral home on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 11 am.  Burial to follow in the Westcock Cemetery.

Those wishing to make a donation in Duane's memory may do so to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Main Street
Baptist Church.

Douglas Lloyd Hyslop
(September 14, 1938 - January 10, 2012)

It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Douglas Lloyd Hyslop age 73 of Amherst passed away Tuesday, January
10, 2012 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, NS.

Born on September 14, 1938 in Amherst, NS, Doug was the son of the late Cecil and Frances (Moore) Hyslop.

In his early years Douglas lived in Ottawa, ON where he drove the city buses for O.C. Transpo. In his leisure time Doug
enjoyed his amateur radio club and playing darts every Wednesday night.

Doug will be fondly remembered by his daughter Tonia of Amherst, his granddaughter Kaitlyn of Amherst, his sisters Pat
Bishop of Amherst and Elva (Bob) Kaye of Debert as well as his loving cousin Rhoda Porter of Moncton and several nieces
and nephews.

Besides his parents, Doug was predeceased by his wife of 31 years Miriam (Coffin) Hyslop, one daughter in infancy, one
sister Frances and one brother Clifford in infancy as well as one brother Cecil (Babe).

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (902-667-9906) with
the Royal Canadian Legion Br #10 Amherst holding their tribute service at 7 p.m.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 2 p.m. from Campbell's Chapel with Rev. Donald Miller
officiating.

Memorial donations in Doug's memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or the Amherst Regional High
School Band Association.
